Deacon

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Mel is the founder and Managing Director of Elevate Communication. She started the company in 2007 and has built it into one of the most successful, independent communication agencies in Australia.

In a career spanning more than 20 years, Mel has worked for some of the world’s top companies and brands in Europe, Australia and New Zealand including Diageo, Westpac, Domino’s Pizza, Frosty Boy Australia, QSuper, Sodexo and the Surf Life Saving Foundation to name a few.

With an enviable network of contacts worldwide, Mel specialises in issues and reputation management, stakeholder engagement and strategic communication advice and management.

Mel holds a Bachelor of Business (Public Relations) from Queensland University of Technology and a Diploma of Business German from the University of Queensland.

She is a professional member of the Registered Consultancy Group and is the immediate past President of the Public Relations Institute of Australia – Queensland.

Deacon

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Mark is an experienced business manager responsible for Elevate’s business development, finance and operations.

He has more than 20 years’ experience with international organisations, including multinational alcoholic beverage producer Diageo.

His commercial and business savvy make Mark an invaluable member of Elevate’s senior management team.

A multi-skilled operator, Mark negotiates acquisitions for property and assets, and financially forecasts and budgets to ensure the ongoing success and growth of the company.

Kim
Donaldson

EVENTS & OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

A versatile and resourceful professional, Kim’s detailed and logical approach combined with her extensive problem solving skills, sees her to oversee the business’ systems, policies and processes in order to deliver operational efficiencies for both the company and its clients.

With a career spanning over 20-years, which has included more than nine years at Elevate, Kim has held a number of operational and administrative roles and responsibilities, which has been complemented by her comprehensive background in events and marketing. 

Kim has accrued vast experience across all aspects of event management specialising in corporate events, Kim has successfully delivered a wide variety of events such as multi-day conferences, stakeholder roundtables and company product launches, as well as from large charity campaign events and community forums.​

Now in her dual role as Events & Operations Director, Kim continues to work closely with client account teams to ensure the successful of delivery of outcomes and provide strategic business support which incorporates the development of online portals and platforms, change management programs, new and revised human resources policy banks, and resourcing planners with multi-layered financials, to name a few.

Gormley

COMMUNICATION DIRECTOR

Amanda is a senior communications leader with over 20 years’ experience bringing brand stories to life. She has led campaigns across industries including retail, health, finance, sport, and travel – partnering with major brands such as ALDI Australia, Nestlé, Allianz, Temu, and the Australian Grocery Council.

A natural storyteller and strategic thinker, Amanda specialises in media relations, crisis communications, sponsorships, and talent management. Known for her strategic and creative thinking, she thrives on turning brand stories into compelling news and consumer engagement initiatives.

Abad

CORPORATE COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST

Jose Abad is a seasoned communicator with over 20 years’ experience in corporate communication strategy, planning, implementation and media management in Australia and internationally.

Jose commits to his clients, learns their business and engages strategically and effectively to deliver outcomes while remaining vigilant for opportunities and risks.

He manages every detail of the client experience from strategy development, media, marketing and communication plans, issues and crisis management, social media, client liaison and project delivery.

He has expertise in working in both consultancy and in-house communications management positions in the corporate, property, food, agribusiness, mining and not for profit sectors.

Jose holds a Bachelor of Arts (Majors in Journalism and Communication) from the University of Queensland and is a professional member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia and Australian Institute of Marketing.

Molina

COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST

With more than 20 years’ experience in regional and metropolitan media, and agency, Liliana has an in-depth knowledge of the Australian market and works with clients to strategic position their brand.

Having lead the digital transforms of mastheads at NewCorp Australia, Liliana bolsters Elevate’s digital media offering with her understanding of aligning messages across traditional and online channels.

In her role as Communication Specialist, Liliana is able to draw on her strengths as strategic storyteller to drive client outcomes in a competitive PR landscape.

Cross

EVENT MANAGER

Debbie has worked as an Events Producer for the past 20 years, specialising in ‘end-to-end’ events management solutions for conferences, incentives, activations and business events.

As a seasoned event industry professional working alongside corporate companies, governments, franchisee and associations, Debbie has project managed all aspects of international and national business events ranging in size from 5 to 2,000 delegates.

Debbie’s early creative production producing career began at George Patterson Advertising, followed by 10 years as Head of Production for Clemenger Advertising.

Using her advertising experience, Debbie makes her clients visual communication needs a reality. Whether it’s a conference, business event, television commercial, photographic shoot or PR activation.

Debbie combines her creative flair, enthusiasm and attention to detail to every bespoke project and can work under pressure to plan and create innovative events that are memorable, on budget and exceed expectations that will leave a lasting impression with your delegates.

COMMUNICATION MANAGER

Ellissa is a PR and communications professional with multiple years’ experience delivering campaigns across industries including travel, health, retail, sport, urban development and government.

She has worked with Australian brands such as Queensland Theatre, Urbex and the Queensland Department of Education, as well as Bupa Care Homes UK and ALDI UK.

A natural problem-solver with a proactive, solutions-focused approach, Ellissa combines strategic thinking with enthusiasm. She is an expert in media relations and in delivering impactful campaigns and partnerships. Known for her sound professional judgement, Ellissa shapes communications that are consistent, unique and aligned with organisational objectives.

Ellissa builds genuine connections and trust with her clients, journalists, and brands’ audiences. Ellissa brings passion and drive to everything she does, approaching every project with both optimism and realism.

With a background in Marketing and Communications, Bella brings an innovative and creative mind for strategically interweaving brand narratives and storytelling to connect brands and their communities. Having internships at fast-paced corporate agencies, Bella has proved her dedication to forming strong client relationships and providing effective and engaging content, as seen in all her clients.

Using a people-centric and strengths-based approach to all her work, in her new role, Bella is excited to be a part of the Elevate team. Whether it’s digital content creation, community engagement, or social media campaigns, she is passionate about using various channels to share brands’ messages in an accessible and engaging manner to foster positive relations and impact.

COMMUNICATION ASSISTANT

With a recently completed degree in Communications and Public Relations, Eliza’s passion lies in storytelling and creating brand narratives that connect brands and their communities.

With multiple internships at fast-paced corporate agencies, Eliza thrives on working through challenges to provide effective and engaging content. She brings a collaborative and calm problem-solving mindset to every campaign.

Having studied abroad for part of her degree Eliza brings a diverse and nuanced perspective to her work. Eliza brings her enthusiastic approach and thirst to learn across all parts of the Elevate business, whether it’s media relations, or social media campaigns, or community events.

Alicia
Westland

EVENT COORDINATOR

Alicia formally began her employed career as an Event Coordinator earlier in 2025 and already in this short timeframe, Alicia has worked with national brands including Porsche, EB Games, PwC, Proactive Health, Medilinks, Juice TV, SEQ IT Services, and Carers Queensland.

Providing valuable event support to these clients, Alicia has worked behind the scenes on key event materials such as run sheets, budgets and floor plans, as well as assisting in the development of online registration platforms and onsite bump-in and coordination.

Alicia has nurtured her love of events over a number of years, having volunteered at Pop-Up Polo, Sunshine Coast Marathon, and Surfing for the Disabled, sparking her love for bringing people together.

Having lived extensively overseas, including France, England, the USA, New Zealand, and now Australia, Alicia has developed a strong appreciation for connection, teamwork, and fast-paced environments.

She thrives on working through challenges and brings her passion, team-player mindset, and calm problem-solving skills to every event.

Currently studying her Bachelor of Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management at the University of Queensland.
